In 2002, 12,000 new cases
of children needing a home were reported to the Child Developmental
Agency in Jamaica. The need is great!
At both of our City of Refuge homes we have developed a Christ-centered
environment conducive to spiritual, mental, emotional and physical
growth. It is our goal that each child and young adult is nurtured
and helped to grow in each of these areas.
The City of Refuge homes are the only children's homes in Jamaica
that have both a father and mother for the children. A family environment
is established to nurture each child and model for them what a Godly
family should look like.
We have a school at both locations to teach
the children the fundamentals, such as reading, writing and arithmetic.
As the children grow older, we teach them real life skills, such
as computers, carpentry, sewing, and agriculture.
Our greatest goal is
that each child will have a solid relationship with Christ and will
be able to stand on their own by age eighteen. This is a tall order
and we covet your prayers. We believe our children will leave the
Cities of Refuge after high school and make a positive impact on
their communities and their nation.
